Today, the 30th of November, saw the conclusion of the Rector's Cup 2009 with the anticipated celebration of Rector's Day (supposedly on 03 December). The morning began with the exhibition game of the formators in lawn tennis with the Rector as one of the players. Then the championship game in lawn tennis followed. Then followed the championship game in Volleyball played between the Kalis Batch (T1) and the Bahandi Batch (T2). The first year theols emerged as champion in volleyball and overall champion in this edition of the Rector's Cup. In the afternoon, two hotly-contested games were played between the host viannistas and the neighboring San Jose seminarians. The hosts proved the more experienced team and swept both games. At 6:00 pm, the Rector led the community in the Holy Eucharist with the blessing of the Advent wreath. Dinner followed at the covered walk with some guests and benefactors present. A heartwarming program and awards ceremony followed. Being the Rector's last year, the celebration was tinted with a little air of goodbye and melancholy. Nonetheless, joy and jubilation was the predominant atmosphere.

Mikefabs' Presbyteral Ordination
Just a day after Rev. Fr. Remel and Casi were ordained priests, Mikefabs received the same grace, too. The second after 28 years, the ordination at St. Anthony of Padua Parish in Nazareth, CDO, proved to be very well-attended, organized, and moving. And festive, too, what with the lively drum and bugle corps that played all throughout the event except during the ordination mass. St. John Vianney is once again proud and happy to welcome another one of her sons being raised to the order of Melchizedek. Congrats, Mike, and may the Lord's hand be always your guide.

Rector's Cup 2009
It's time to rumble again! It seems it was only yesterday that the seminarians competed in the Intramurals; now it's Rector's Cup na naman. Being Friday the 13th and the opening show of the Apocalyptic film "2012," this occasion was indeed with a totally different spirit. Starting with a parade from the Admin bldg., seminarians then proceeded to the covered court for the Opening Salvo! The Rector was greeted by a "Santracruzan" inspired "gate" thanks to his recent exhortation to creativity and imagination. The Opening Programme also proved very entertaining and spirited: with the yells, inspired emcees (Budz and Ardin), etc. To open the competition formally, a volleyball game was played between the T1 Kalis Batch and the T2 Bahandi Batch.

Presbyteral Ordination of El Dats
On 09 November 2009, in Anakan, Gingoog City, Rev. Ely Datoy was ordained to the priesthood by the laying on of hands of the Most Rev. Antonio J. Ledesma, S.J., D.D. For the Christian community of that parish it was a momentous and grace-filled occasion. Attendance at the Eucharist and at the reception was extraordinary. Many priests concelebrated and shared the joy of Rev. Fr. Ely Datoy who gave a very lively speech at the end. He gave thanks to all who have been a part of his vocation. Vianney is happy to welcome Rev. Fr. Eldats into its roster of alumni priests. We accompany him with our prayers.

House of Xavier-Kalis Batch Outing Oct. 2009, Dipolog
After a grueling semester of theology and other formation modules, the first year group (Kalis Batch) went on
a community building activity in Dipolog and Dapitan, thanks to the organizing skills and charm of Sem. Jun Dagpin and his family. The group was accommodated at the Montano Beach House in Sicayab. The place being spacious and well-landscaped, with various huts, each one found his own corner, safe and sound (ly asleep). The group activities included a tour around the city (cathedral, boulevard, seminary, Bishop's House, Mt. Sinai, etc.) and to Rizal Park, Gloria de dapitan, Dapitan parish, and Dakak!. We thank the various sponsors of our meals and accommodation: the Montano Family, Cathedral Parish, Dapitan Parish, Cor Iesu Seminary, Bina Lim and Mibang Hotel, Ate Leonor Pickard, Bp. Manguiran, and of course, the Dagpin Family. Indeed, the outing was most enjoyable and memorable. The venue of the next one will not be hard to imagine! Abangan!
